
Competition Rules
Check out the rules below with a parent, carer or teacher before making your competition entry.
- Entrants must ask their parent/guardian for permission to enter the competition.
- Entrants must be between the ages of 8-16 years to enter. The competition is split into 2 age groups: 8-10 year olds and 11-16 year olds.
- Entries can be made as an individual or as a small group (up to 5 people).
- You must live in the UK as this competition is only open to UK residents. Overseas entries will not be considered.
- Competition entries must be submitted to CEOP in one of the following ways: i) via Youtube (www.youtube.com/thinkuknow); ii) via email (education@ceop.gov.uk); iii) or by post (The CEOP Centre, 33 Vauxhall Bridge Road, Pimlico, London SW1V 2WG).
- All entries must be supported by a completed online entry form (www.ceop.police.uk/competition). Any entries not supported by a completed entry form will not be considered. This information will be held by CEOP for the purpose and duration of this competition and will not be broadcast or shared with anyone else.
- Each winner’s school will be contacted to confirm the winner’s eligibility for the competition using the details supplied in the online entry form. In the event that CEOP is unable to verify the details with the school, CEOP will offer the prize(s) to another entry.
- Competition winner(s) will be contacted before the results are announced. In the event of there being no reply or CEOP being unable to verify the details given, CEOP will offer the prize(s) to another entry. Only the winners first name, age and area of the UK will be published on CEOP’s Thinkuknow website (www.thinkuknow.co.uk).
- This competition closes on 24th January 2010. Any entries submitted after the closing date will not be considered.
- Following the closing date of 24th January 2010, entries will be judged by a panel of CEOP staff and external stakeholders. Entries will be judged using the following criteria:
- Content reflects the theme. The theme of ‘My Life Online’ must be reflected in the entry’s content and have parents as its intended audience. The
- Originality of entry. The originality of content of the entry will be important and considered in the selection of a winning entry.
- Quality of entry. The effective use of the chosen format demonstrating skill in the entry’s production. The more artistic you can make your entry, the better.
- The entry’s impact. The entry should have an impact on its intended audience of parents, being informative about children and young people’s online activities.
- Entries should not display your school emblem, tie or school name. This also applies for your own name(s) and all your personal details. Make sure these are not included as CEOP will not be able to post your competition entry on to CEOP’s Thinkuknow website if these details are included.
- If your entry is filmed it must be 1- 3 minutes long and should not exceed this time limit. Clips shorter than 1 minute or longer than 3 minutes will not be considered for this competition.
- Any entry judged to contain inappropriate material or information will not be considered in the competition.
- Submitting the Content
- Do not publish, transmit or distribute or upload any material through the sites mentioned that is illegal, this work must be that or your own or the group.
- It is important that the material doesn’t contain material that will upset or invade anyone else’s privacy. Remember to respect other’s privacy and ask them for their consent before taking any photographs of others or video
- You must provide, when asked, CEOP with your name and email address
- CEOP or anyone who works for or with them, cannot be held responsible for any lost, late or misdirected entries or where a technical issue has resulted in the entry not being received.
- Right to Use any Submitted Content
- By submitting any entry (now referred to as ‘Content’), CEOP gets the option but no obligation to have a non-exclusive, royalty-free and free of charge, perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable and fully sub-licensable right to use the content in relation to CEOP’s work in Child Protection including marketing and promotional materials i.e. CEOP’s Thinkuknow website, presentations, leaflets etc. It is important to understand and agree that you are solely and fully responsible for all the Content submitted. This means that the Content must not contain any illegal material, it must be appropriate and it is important to ensure that the Content does not contain any one else’s work unless they have given their permission. CEOP has no obligation to monitor any of this Content and therefore will not be liable for any Content that may be illegal.
- The winner of each age category will receive one Xbox 360 and a Kinect. Only one Prize will be given per winner or winning team from each age group. Remember if you enter as a group and you win, then you will have to share the prize with your group. No cash alternative will be given.
- There is no blame put on CEOP or any of its affiliates or partners for any injury or harm that may result in the use of the Prize. Winners must ensure they have appropriate parental guidance when using the Prize.
- If a winner is found to be ineligible or not in compliance with these Rules, the winner’s Prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner selected.
- All entries must comply with the guidance, terms and conditions detailed. Any entries that do not meet all the criteria will be disqualified.
